Jack

Welcome to the A-Z English podcast. My name is Jack and I’m one of the hosts of the podcast, and today we are without social, but I’ve got my good friends Anna Maria, Saleme and Salimeh joining me for this.

00:00:26

Jack

Scary Halloween themed Spooktacular episode, and today we’re going to do a quick chat episode where we share.

00:00:36

Jack

Our experiences with the scariest movie that we have ever seen. So what is the scariest movie you’ve ever seen? One that is just burned into your brain that you can never Unsee and forget?

00:00:52

Jack

And we’ll start with Anna Maria first.

00:00:56

Ana Maria

OK. And the?

00:00:58

Ana Maria

Worst movie I saw was the exorcist.

00:01:02

Ana Maria

It’s a new movie. I saw that when I was in the school. I was, yeah, I was. I was maybe 13 years. I don’t know. I I don’t know. It was. It was terrible. I was scared.

00:01:14

Jack

Ohh my gosh, that’s pretty young to see the exorcist. Wow.

00:01:23

Ana Maria

About one week after the.

00:01:24

Ana Maria

Moving all the time, I was thinking about.

00:01:28

Ana Maria

These scenes of all in the movie.

00:01:33

Ana Maria

It was, it’s.

00:01:34

Ana Maria

It’s only even if you see that then nowadays it’s a scary movie, especially about the what happened to the.

00:01:45

Ana Maria

And her face and understood, remember many things about the movie. I never saw that again after that time when I was adult or anything because it was really a trauma. It was very.

00:01:59

Jack

Yeah, especially when her head, like, spins around 360 degrees.

00:02:04

Jack

And then she vomits the green. You know, slime or pudding or pea soup or whatever that is.

00:02:15

Ana Maria

When they show the her stomach and words appear. Oh my God is horrible. It’s horrible because there there there is asking for her.

00:02:21

Jack

Oh yes.

00:02:29

Ana Maria

Her own body.

00:02:30

Jack

Yeah, yeah.

00:02:32

Ana Maria

It’s a good movie, I.

00:02:33

Ana Maria

Guess it’s a good movie, that it’s really scary.

00:02:37

Jack

Uh, it’s uh. It is a good movie, but it’s like a good movie. You don’t want to necessarily watch again right away. You know, it’s like it’s a trauma. It’s traumatic to see that movie. That’s why I would not let my daughter watch The Exorcist. That’s I draw a line there. Yeah. Yeah.

00:02:55

Ana Maria

Fair enough.

00:02:58

Jack

OK, 13. Anna Maria. That’s too young. You you that that scared you? I think that’s.

00:03:04

Ana Maria

I love. I love so many days and when I talk to my parents, they say we don’t need that. We need to know what’s.

00:03:15

Ana Maria

He was alone. I was alone.

00:03:15

Jack

You guys.

00:03:17

Jack

OK. Yeah, that was somebody somebody made a mistake there by letting you watch that at that young of an.

00:03:24

Jack

Age. Alright, thanks for sharing Andrea and Celine. Scariest movie that you’ve ever seen.

00:03:34

Salimeh

Actually, I was like Amelia because I started watching scary movies when I was kind of kid or teenager, I don’t know. And a lot about, you know, I didn’t watch her movies anymore. But when I was sleeping, I was so into.

00:03:53

Salimeh

So uh.

00:03:55

Salimeh

I don’t remember actually the movies. All the movies that I watched at that time, but when we was constantly, you know, it’s about the hunter Demon Hunter, maybe you know that and only that movie you know is talking in my mind, that’s still know some.

00:04:15

Salimeh

I was thinking my memory is very blurry by that time, but maybe I was. I don’t, you know, scare of those things anymore. But at that time, well, I was so young. So that was serious for me when I was a kid. But recently this says.

00:04:35

Salimeh

Afraid, not scared.

00:04:36

Salimeh

So easily, even though it.

00:04:39

Salimeh

With the ordinary it’s a very simple movie and there is a normal scene and all of a sudden someone next the door and that was the scariest movie, the scariest moment, you know, watching.

00:04:51

Jack

Yeah, that’s the best when you like.

00:04:53

Salimeh

Yeah, everything is getting, yeah.

00:04:55

Jack

When you’re watching a horror movie and then.

00:04:56

Salimeh

When we don’t expect.

00:04:58

Jack

Yeah, somebody slams the door or something and you just jump out of your seat. Yeah.

00:04:59

Salimeh

Yeah, I don’t expect anything.

00:05:03

Jack

Popcorn goes flying everywhere.

00:05:06

Jack

Constantine, that was a comic book.

00:05:08

Jack

Movie, but I think.

00:05:09

Jack

It was definitely like about like like the.

00:05:11

Jack

Devil and and you know.

00:05:14

Jack

OK.

00:05:14

Jack

Demons and angels and yeah, it was really.

00:05:18

Jack

Quite a dark and kind of scary movie. Yeah. Yeah. And it had Keanu Reeves.

00:05:18

Salimeh

Yeah, it’s.

00:05:22

Salimeh

Like the calendar for the kids. Yeah, yeah.

00:05:24

Jack

Yeah, not for, not for food.

00:05:26

Jack

Yeah. All right. Well, thank you. So we may thank you for sharing that. So we have the Exorcist and Constantine, Salimeh, scariest.

00:05:35

Jack

Movie you’ve ever seen.

00:05:38

Agnieszka

Uh, well, I was thinking the same as Anna Maria, but I don’t know the the the missus I remember is Andrea is a movie is a a Dominican horror movie. This the first movie that they do in this kind of.

00:05:44

Jack

OK.

00:05:58

Agnieszka

And it was really scary because they they talk about scary story stories in that American Republic, like the real scary stories that happened here or well.

00:06:13

Agnieszka

They they say that happened here and it was it was good because have this, you know this environment that give you all when you are in a small town and you feel like you want you are hunting and you you you are in a hunting house something like that.

00:06:32

Agnieszka

It was because I was really young. I was like 1212 years old, so I all, all of my friends have the same movie as me. So yeah.

00:06:39

Jack

Yeah, yeah, yeah.

00:06:44

Jack

What’s it called? It’s called Andre.

00:06:47

Agnieszka

Yeah, Andrea.

00:06:48

Jack

Andrea, OK, Now this is. I’m just gonna sound so ignorant here when I ask you this question. But I know that from talking to some of my students from Haiti that like voodoo and that kind of I I don’t know what you call it. Like mythology is, is prevalent on the island.

00:07:09

Jack

Is that also true in Dominican Republic? Is there some like kind of myth, myth of myth, myth, mythological connection to voodoo and stuff like that?

00:07:20

Agnieszka

Ohh no here we are different in that way. Maybe if you go to a small town that that are near to Haiti.

00:07:29

Agnieszka

Yeah, maybe you can find.

00:07:31

Agnieszka

That but we are in my country is more religious like italic and they they don’t like any of these things.

00:07:39

Salimeh

OK.

00:07:40

Jack

That’s like taboo. It’s definitely not. OK. OK, I I didn’t. I didn’t know. So I was just. I was just wondering cause I that like voodoo always scare.

00:07:42

Agnieszka

Yeah, definitely a tough.

00:07:51

Jack

For me, I’ve always been really scared by that. You know the there’s even a movie. There are several movies about that, and it’s it’s really, really creepy.

00:08:01

Jack

So I I I.

00:08:02

Jack

Thought that would make a good a good horror movie. Alright my I’m going to round out with a zombie film and my favorite.

00:08:12

Jack

The horror movie The scariest movie that I’ve ever seen is 28 days later.

00:08:17

Jack

Have you guys ever seen that before? 28 days later it it’s a it’s a zombie movie.

00:08:25

Jack

It’s about these. Well, it’s a it’s a zombie, a zombie apocalypse. So. So what happens is that there’s a laboratory that is making this virus, and the virus escapes. And it turns people into zombies. And this movie came out in like, 2001. So you guys were quite young.

00:08:46

Jack

You know, but I was. I was in my my 20s.

00:08:49

Jack

And the thing about this movie that was so scary is that the zombies were fast. You know how zombies are usually slow in this movie. The zombies are like, they’re like, track, like, like athletes, like Olympic runners or something. So that feeling of like being chased by a super fast.

00:09:11

Jack

Can be just gives you such a creepy feeling. It’s it’s like that dream when you’re dreaming and you can’t run and someone’s chasing you and you just you. You can’t go fast enough. I felt like that the whole movie. So that’s my that’s my favorite movie. My favorite horror movie. Anna Maria. Have you seen that 120?

00:09:30

Jack

Eight days later.

00:09:31

Ana Maria

No, no, never since.

00:09:34

Jack

No slime, no.

00:09:36

Salimeh

No, but when you are talking about, you know I can’t do this. Oh, my God. What is some? This can be, you know, work fast. So even from.

00:09:49

Jack

This is the. This is the movie. Like they changed they. This is the movie where that made zombie movies popular again because for a long time it was all about Dracula. You know, everything was vampires, twilight and.

00:10:03

Jack

You know vampires and werewolves, but this movie changed it from slow zombies to like, really fast zombies. And it’s just it changes everything because it’s so scary. It really is scary. So alright.

00:10:21

Jack

Constantine the Exorcist #1 the first one and 28 days later. Those are our recommendations if you.

00:10:29

Jack

Gonna scare the pants off of your friends and family members so.
