Dear Jack and Xochitl,
I hope this letter finds you in good spirits during this festive season. I find myself in a bit of a Christmas conundrum and would appreciate your advice.
Every year, my extended family gathers for a grand Christmas celebration, and it’s always a joyful time. However, there’s a growing issue that has me feeling torn. My sister-in-law insists on hosting the holiday dinner at her place every single year, and while her cooking is undeniably excellent, it has become a source of stress for her and tension among the family.
I can sense that she’s overwhelmed with the preparations, and I fear that the joy of the season is overshadowed by the burden of hosting. I’ve tried suggesting a potluck-style gathering or rotating the hosting duties among family members, but she seems adamant about keeping the tradition alive at her house.
How can I approach this situation without causing a family feud or hurting her feelings? I want Christmas to be a time of joy and togetherness, not stress and strain.
Sincerely,
Torn in Tinseltown
